About the artwork

Rush hour. Cold November air. A sea of suits, heads down, moving in unison. And then—the twins.

Two young dogs darting against the tide, weaving through the crowd with a freedom that feels almost rebellious. Against the Odds isn’t just about movement; it’s about momentum—the kind we try to hold onto before life tells us to fall in line.

The painting captures that fleeting space between youth and responsibility, before schedules replace spontaneity and the weight of everyday life settles in. The twins, symbols of childhood and freedom, push forward in their own direction, breaking from the rhythm of the world around them. They aren’t lost. They’re just not ready to be found.

The older Peace Dog, a recurring figure in J.30000’s work, rediscovers his own youth in their presence—a quiet nod to the idea that freedom is never really lost, only forgotten.

There’s a deceptive simplicity in J.30000’s characters—their lines are quick, their forms playful, but beneath the surface, they carry something deeper. His style, shaped by years of graffiti and street art, holds the energy of a world that moves fast, where art has to be immediate, impactful, and a little bit rebellious.

"I detest consistency, the way to find new ideas, is to do anything."

Guillaume Jacques, known as J.30000, is a Montreal-based artist whose work captures the nuances of human relationships, society, and emotion. His art is rooted in a sense of nostalgia, freedom, and joy, all filtered through a lens shaped by graffiti, street culture, and commercial design.

His journey began as a teenage graffiti artist, where speed and efficiency became his second nature. Over time, his work evolved—first onto clothing, then onto fabric and paper, leading him to study fashion marketing. By 2021, he had fully committed to art, taking his work beyond the gallery walls with pop-up installations in Montreal, Paris, and New York. In 2023, his first solo exhibition in Hong Kong marked his transition into painting as a primary medium.

J.30000’s work lives in contradictions—playful yet thought-provoking, commercial yet deeply personal, fleeting yet permanent. His signature Peace Dog and his evolving cast of characters create a visual language that feels both familiar and entirely new.
